Phase 2 honestly challenged me a lot more than I expected, especially with Excel and learning all the different formulas and functions. At first some of the assignments were really confusing and frustrating, but after practicing more and asking questions when I needed help, I started understanding things better and became more confident using Excel. The A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer assignment was probably one of the harder assignments for me because there were a lot of details and steps to pay attention to, but it also helped me realize how useful Excel can actually be in real situations.
I also learned a lot from the URL Components and Social Engineering section because it made me more aware of online safety and how easy it can be for people to get tricked by fake links or scams. I definitely pay more attention now before clicking links or giving information online. These are things that are honestly important outside of school too, especially because technology is involved in almost everything now.
One thing I noticed throughout this phase is that I got better at being patient and figuring things out instead of immediately giving up when I got stuck. I still have a lot to improve on, but I feel more comfortable using programs like Excel now than I did at the beginning of the semester. I can also see myself using these skills later in other classes, jobs, and even everyday situations where organization and data matter.
Going into Phase 3, I want to push myself more. Seeing other students work hard and improve throughout the semester has been motivating.
Hi Brittney, your post explains Phase 2 in a way that feels very genuine because it shows both the frustration and the improvement that came after practicing more. The A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer assignment really was one of those projects where missing one small detail could suddenly throw everything into chaos. Excel has a strange way of making people feel confident for about five minutes before a formula decides to humble everyone in the spreadsheet. I also liked the part where you talked about URL components and social engineering because that section honestly felt more important than people first realized, especially now that almost everything involves online accounts, emails, and suspicious links pretending to be normal.
ReplyDeleteI also want to say that your new blog formatting looks really good. The vibrant colors combined with the white background make everything stand out clearly and it gives the page a very clean and organized look. It catches attention immediately without feeling overwhelming, which honestly makes the post easier and more enjoyable to read. Your overall post shows a lot of growth from Phase 2, especially with learning patience and not immediately giving up when Excel starts acting like it has personal issues with students.
I relate to the part about wanting to give up at first with Excel because Phase 2 was definitely harder than expected. But it’s cool seeing how much more confident you became by the end, especially with assignments like A6.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool to see how great you were able to benefit from this phase with learning skills and knowing when to be patient. I feel I came to the same understanding after facing difficult challenges especially throughout A6, but learning in the end it's a true benefit is what makes it worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'm elated A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer helped you realize how useful Excel can actually be in real situations and the URL Components and Social Engineering section made you more aware of online safety and how easy it can be for people to fall prey to scammers :-)
ReplyDeleteMe, someone else, maybe even artificial intelligence, can teach skills; but only you can learn this:
"One thing I noticed throughout this phase is that I got better at being patient and figuring things out instead of immediately giving up when I got stuck."
I'm glad you are motivated seeing other students work hard and improve through the semester, Brittney ^_^
Practice definitely helps a lot with excel! A6 gave me some issues as well but I agree that it taught us a lot in the end. I remember when I was in middle school got a virus on my laptop playing warnings at full volume every time I tried to power it on, maybe I got it from a bad link. From then on I was much more careful with what I clicked online. Stay motivated and don't give up!
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer might not technically be the hardest, because I figured out the main components on how to complete it, but the small details really got me. I think I was too caught up on the functions that I missed some pretty obvious cosmetic mistakes.
ReplyDeleteHello Brittney, I totally understand I also found Excel frustrating when we first started the formulas really threw me off. A6 was a bit harder getting tripped up on the small details was the most challenging part for sure.
ReplyDeleteHey Brittney, A6 was pretty tough, I would've sent in what I had, Professor didn't accept it because he knew it can be better, and it did.
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, I liked what you said about becoming more patient and learning not to give up right away because I feel like that was one of the biggest lessons from Phase 2. Good luck in Phase 3!
ReplyDeleteHey Brittney! I like that you chose to talk about online safety. This class actually taught me so much about avoiding scams that I was able to help my mom not get scammed by the infamous "Facebook marketplace $500 Zelle scam". I wish a lot of the older folks would be able to learn more about online safety.
ReplyDeleteA6 is very useful when the situation comes and yes it is one of the hardest assignments that this course gave us. I am thankful that Prof. Wu helped us getting through since I would never figured out the perspective of another person in the written part of the assignment. Figuring things out is best thing when you actually hit the assignment in the nail, instead of giving up almost immediately.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. Learning of URLs really made me more aware of online safety too, and now I pay a lot more attention before clicking on links or sharing information online.
ReplyDeleteHello Brittney. I like your blog layout! It feels very unique. I also found A6 useful. It was nice seeing how our Excel knowledge can be applied.
ReplyDeleteHey Brittney! Learning the components of URLs was definitely very important, I might even relay the information to my parents and friends so they don't potentially get scammed!
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney. I get your point when you say that learning concepts in Excel is hard. For me, the hardest formula for me to learn was the concatenate function. What was the hardest formula for you to learn?
ReplyDeleteHey Brittney, it's good to know that other student's hard work motivates you and it did for me too. Also, having patience is absolutely necessary when it comes to stuff like Excel and that's a good sign that you'll do great in courses like these. By the way, I really like your layout for the blog, it's really nice and makes it easy to read! Have a good one and hope all goes well with everything you do!
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, it's crazy how one capstone assignment made such an impact on our learning and showed us what we can create with some simple formulas and knowledge. I was not ready to take excel expert but hopefully one day I will master Excel. Have a great summer break!
