Looking back on this semester, I honestly learned a lot more from IS101 than I expected to. At first I thought it was just going to be a basic computer class, but it ended up teaching me a lot about problem solving, paying attention to details, organization, and being patient when things get frustrating. Some assignments definitely took me longer than expected and there were times where I felt overwhelmed, especially with Excel and some of the formatting projects, but I can tell I improved a lot compared to the beginning of the semester.
One thing I appreciated about this course was that most of the assignments felt realistic instead of just random busy work. Learning Excel, mail merge, PowerPoint, online safety, and other computer skills are things I can actually use later in jobs, school, and everyday life. I also feel way more comfortable using Microsoft Office programs now than I did before this class started.
I think the class pushed everyone to work more independently and figure things out even when the answers were not immediately obvious. Even though that could be stressful sometimes, I understand why because it helped build confidence and problem solving skills. I also liked seeing other students’ blog posts throughout the semester because it was motivating seeing how much everyone was improving and how different people approached assignments in their own way.
For Chapter 6, one thing that stood out to me was the idea of creativity and presentation being important when sharing information with other people. It made me realize that people remember things more when they are organized well and visually interesting instead of just throwing information together. I think presentation matters a lot because it affects how people understand and connect with your work.
One thing I want visitors to remember from my blog posts is that growth takes time and nobody starts out knowing everything. Throughout the semester there were assignments that confused me at first, but after practicing and continuing to work through them, I improved more than I expected. Overall, this class challenged me in a good way and helped me build skills that I know I’ll continue using in the future.

Hi Brittney, I really respect how you talked about growth while balancing school and your work as a Lip Blush Technician at the same time. That type of work requires precision, patience, creativity, and a steady hand because clients are trusting you with something directly connected to their appearance and confidence.
ReplyDeleteIt honestly takes courage to build yourself in a career where your skills are constantly on display and where every detail matters. Trying to grow professionally and academically at the same time is not easy, so I admire the amount of effort and independence behind your journey.
Hi Brittney! I'm loving the look of your blog; very clean and I love the colors! Good luck with future endeavors! I'll be in contact if I ever need some lip-blushing! Your work looks phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteHello Brittney! You're blog looks so bright compared to everyone else's, it's very pretty. Honestly I feel much more confident in using any apps adjacent to the Microsoft apps we've learned to use as well. I agree that seeing everyone improve was very motivating. This class was a good challenge, that's a positive mindset to keep.
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, for me excel was the most stressful , but it’s cool looking back and realizing how much we actually improved.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog design! Also, I’m really glad to hear that this course helped you feel more confident and improve your skills. It’s always nice to see how much growth and progress we make along the way.
ReplyDelete"Most of the assignments felt realistic". Absolutely. The assignments are actually something we would be carrying towards the future when we decide to have a office job or even our personal lives. That said, your representation, of freshly done and healed lips is not in my bingo card and it's actually creative. Growth really takes time and we learn something everyday.
ReplyDeleteHey Brittney, I totally agree these assignment's weren't just run of the mill but something that actually challenged and applied real world situations to what anyone of us can be doing in the near-future. Best of luck to you in the future!
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney. You have a point when you say that this class pushes you through challenges. I can relate to feeling overwhelmed by some of the assignments at first, especially with Excel, but working through them taught us important skills.
ReplyDeleteHello Brittney. I also share the opinion that the assignments felt real. It made the work feel meaningful. "Growth takes time and nobody starts out knowing everything." Agreed, great message!
