Hello everyone, My name is Brittney, and welcome to my blog. I’m a current student at the College Of Southern Nevada studying my Associate of Science, and I’m excited to share my journey as a student throughout this semester. One of the classes I am currently taking is IS101-3005. You will watch me become more confident using technology and overall improving my technical skills.
My first impression of IS101 has been a positive experience so far. The class seems very straight forward and organized. This course will be very beneficial especially for students who want to build stronger computer and digital skills, and I’m glad to be taking a course that teaches skills I can actually use outside of the classroom.
In Discussion 2 Part 2, I chose to focus on improving my ability to use attachments and hyperlinks. One activity that helped me was LabSim 1.3.11 Attachments and Hyperlinks. This lesson helped me understand how to correctly attach files and include links in a professional way, which is important for submitting assignments and communicating clearly online. I feel like this skill will help me in other classes and even in my future career.
Overall, I’m excited to continue learning and growing in IS101. I hope this blog shows my progress over time, and I’m looking forward to learning more skills that will help me succeed in school and in my future career.

ReplyDeleteYes, sending/sharing documents in a professional way is definitely important. More than just attaching a copy vs. sharing a link to the document on your storage space, the file name, and the email that the document/link is riding on are also important to professionalism you project.
I look forward to seeing your confidence and skillset in digital literacy grow and apply what you learned outside of the classroom!

Hey Brittney, I did my Associate of Science and graduated in 2020. From experience, when you do research papers, you’ll often remove hyperlinks in Word. In PowerPoint, that hyperlink skill is useful, especially if you take classes like biology, microbiology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, or environmental science. What you’re learning now will come in handy. Keep going with it, you’re on the right path.

ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting last name! A whole country. I wish I can put a country for my name like JD Japan. Technical skills are a requirement for the jobs that we are going to tackle outside college and thankfully IS-101 course is helping us to build that confidence that we can do the job right and efficient! ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, I want to say that you and me share the idea that this class is organized, helpful and filled with useful pointers that extend past the classroom. I think from using PowerPoint to do the presentations was a nice touch too. I just finished a PowerPoint for another class and I'm glad I sorta knew my way around since it's a bit of a big grade in my other class. Finally I hope what I get out of this class are those exact words at the end, "To look forward to learning more skills that will help me succeed in school and future careers." ReplyDeleteHello Brittney, there is a lot to learn in this class! From my experience, this class has already helped my improve my digitals skills, so I'm sure it'll help improve yours too. I still have trouble with attachments and when what kind of attachment should be used in what circumstance. I'm pretty okay with inserting and using hyperlinks. From what I've seen hyperlinks are pretty straightforward. Good luck with the rest of your semester!

ReplyDeleteHi Brittney. I agree that this class is beneficial to anyone who wants to improve their computer skills in Microsoft applications. One skill that I have learned is that to make photos movable in Microsoft Word, you must change the wrap settings.

ReplyDeleteHello Brittney, we're all in this journey together in terms of getting what we can learn from this class and using it in the real world. So far, I've learned so much just from Lab-Sim, even though we've only finished Word, it was definitely a stepping stone for learning Excel and PowerPoint. good luck on your journey with an Associate of science degree!

I agree with your thoughts/first impressions about this class, I also think it is straightforward and organized besides the A3, D4, and other letter + number combo things which I almost always mix up or get confused about haha :) I like that you are actually thinking about how these skills will help you outside of school, which is something a lot of people overlook because they just to get things done rather than learn. That's admirable and cool of you!
ReplyDeleteHi Brittney, you must have experience with calculations and formulas with your current degree. I have to take only one science class, and I am extremely nervous since it has been years since I have taken a science class. I learned a bit about hyperlinks as well. I didn't realize that you can search for bookmarks to attach as hyperlinks. Good luck on your journey!
